Six Iowa UU Congregations Have Adopted the 8th Principle

The proposed 8th Principle reads: “We, the member congregations of the Unitarian Universalist Association, covenant to affirm and promote: journeying toward spiritual wholeness by working to build a diverse multicultural Beloved Community by our actions that accountably dismantle racism and other oppressions in ourselves and our institutions.”

About 240 congregations, nationwide, have adopted this principle, and among them are these six in Iowa:

  • Ames: Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Ames
  • Cedar Falls: Cedar Valley Unitarian Universalists
  • Cedar Rapids: The Peoples Church UU
  • Coralville/Iowa City: UU Society of Iowa City
  • Mason City: UU Fellowship of North Central Iowa
  • Quad Cities: UU Congregation of the Quad Cities
  • Carolyn Corbin reports that the Decorah Fellowship have adopted the 8th Principle
